Greetings everyone! Finally time for a longer update as I am actually on a computer right now at the youth center. It's been quite beautiful here, cold and windy at night but pretty nice during the day. It snowed a little on us last night at Good Shepherd, but quite a few people braved the elements and played hacky sack and basketball outside before our evening program. This morning we were able to get everything organized (eventually) and get out to the worksites. Lots of great work is going on this week. My group is putting down flooring (tile and laminate) in the nearly-completed youth center. Another group is doing roofing for a family with a roof so leaky that it seems like it's raining indoors. Another group today cleaned up the yard of a blind woman who was under threat of losing her home if it wasn't cleaned up (it's in a government project and one of the requirements of living there is keeping the yard clean). In the evening everyone converged on the youth center and had a cookout while the kids and teens from the neighborhood mingled with all of us.
